[Commlist] Call for Papers – DN35: Mapping and Countering Authoritarian Discourses

We invite submissions for the conference *DN35: */*Mapping and
Countering Authoritarian Discourses*/, taking place on *25–26 February
2027* at the University of Opole (Poland). The event is organized by the
*University of Opole* and *DiscourseNet Association*, in cooperation
with the *Polish Rhetoric Society*, the *Section for Social
Communication Studies of the Polish Sociological Association*, and the
*Opole Branch of the Polish Sociological Association*.
The conference aims to map discursive constructions of authoritarian
appeal and explore strategies of countering them – from rhetorical and
emotional mechanisms to the role of communication infrastructures,
digital platforms, and AI-driven amplification.
We welcome contributions from scholars working in fields such as:
– critical discourse studies,
– rhetoric and argumentation,
– corpus linguistics,
– political communication,
– populism and emotion studies,
– digital authoritarianism and media infrastructures.

Please submit an abstract of 300–400 words, including:
– paper title,
– author name,
– affiliation,
– email address.
