HIGHLIGHT NOTICE: Technology. Media & the Arts


This conference welcomes contributions to debates about best practice 
teaching and research in art and media studies today.
Particular attention will be paid to papers engaging with the use of 
technology in practice, research or teaching.

The background to the event is a reading of contemporary academia that 
sees it is sometimes awash with complexities, contradictions and change:

The university as a site of experimentation has a long tradition. 
Equally long is the academy, school or college as a place of learning 
and the acquiring of skills. More recently, the academic institution as 
a cornerstone of a local economy has been increasingly underlined.
Today, as distance learning and AI increasingly take hold, definitions 
of what education will involve in the future are increasingly diverse 
and, inevitably, contested.
Examining what this means from across different disciplines, this strand 
is interested in the teaching of art and media alongside best practice 
research - whether that be flipped classrooms, ungrading, peer 
assessment, innovative studios or emerging research projects and 
methodologies.



Papers may thus be focused on teaching methods and practices on their 
own terms, examinations of teaching as a subject of research in and of 
itself, or research projects that inform our teaching in one way or another.
We are particularly interested in the role of technologies in 
contemporary academia.
