*Special Forum: Impact of AI on the Animation, Games and VFX Industry*

As organisations across the animation, games, and VFX sectors begin to 
formalise their positions on artificial intelligence, this moment calls 
for critical, collective reflection. This session brings together 
academics, industry practitioners, and students to explore how AI is 
reshaping creative labour, production processes, and the future of the 
industry. The session aims to foster dialogue, identify key challenges, 
and map potential futures for AI within the creative industries.

This forum space could incorporate short talks, discussion-led panels, 
and/or world café-style exchanges. The final format will be determined 
by the submissions received, with the schedule announced nearer the 
time. The event will be in-person only and the discussion will include 
future directions and outputs, such as an edited collection.

We invite presentations, provocations, and discussion prompts addressing 
the impact of AI on the areas of animation, games and VFX:

    Bias and embedded ideologies in AI systems

  *

    The shifting role (and potential displacement) of the artist

  *

    Labour, precarity, and the economics of AI-driven production

  *

    Integration of AI into creative workflows and tools

  *

    Ethics, ownership, and intellectual property in AI-generated work

  *

    Implications for learning, pedagogy, employability and skills
    development

  *

    Aesthetics and authorship in machine-assisted creativity


We welcome contributions from across the spectrum — from students 
concerned about entering an evolving job market, to practitioners 
actively integrating AI into their workflows, to researchers critically 
examining its broader implications.

Contributions may take the form of micro talk, short presentations, 
provocations, case studies, or facilitated discussions.

Submission deadline: 31stAugust

Please submit 250-300 word abstract/outline of your contribution and 
100-word biographical statement.

This is an in-person only event scheduled as part of the main one-day
