Vacancy: Associate Professor in Communication and Media Sciences in Budapest
The Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences at Corvinus
University of Budapest, Hungary, invites applications for a full-time,
definite-term Associate Professor position, with a term ending on 31
January 2029.
Corvinus University is Hungary’s leading university in economics and
social sciences. It has around 8,000 students, including 2,000
international students, more than 250 partner universities worldwide,
strong positions in international rankings, and two international
institutional accreditations in economics: AMBA and AACSB.
Expected earliest start date: spring semester 2026/27

Job description and requirements
• Teaching duties:
- Teaching subjects within the Institute’s education portfolio, in line
with the Academic Career Model.
- Contributing to the Communication Science Doctoral Program of the
Doctoral School of Sociology and Communication Science.
• Research duties:
- Publishing in prestigious international and domestic journals in media
and/or communication studies.
- Participating in major conferences, building international research
networks, joining research projects, and applying for research funding.
- Supporting the internationalization of the Institute and the University.
- Contributing to research activities in the Communication Science
Doctoral Program.
• Service duties:
- Actively participating in the professional life of the Institute and
University and performing service tasks assigned by the head of the
Institute.
- Supporting early-career academics, supervising PhD students and
students in competitions.
- Mentoring assistant professors and PhD students in the Communication
Science Doctoral Program.
• Basic requirements:
- PhD degree obtained at least 5 years ago.
- Relevant higher education teaching and research experience.
- Outstanding teaching and research record.
- Independent research activity.
- Ability to teach in English and act as course leader and PhD supervisor.
• Application documents:
Applications must be submitted in English as a single PDF file, including:
- Detailed CV with educational, research and service achievements;
- Cover letter explaining the applicant’s motivation, intended
contribution to the Institute, and gross salary expectations;
- Scanned copies of documents verifying university degrees, PhD degree
and other qualifications;
- Up to two publications, including working papers, doctoral
dissertations or job market papers;
- At least two professional references;
- Previous student evaluation results;
- Completed summary table in Excel for associate professor applications.

One-off relocation allowance for applicants moving to Hungary;
