About the position

About the project
This postdoctoral position is offered in the international research
project “European AI Commons – Shaping AI for the Creative and Cultural
Industries” (EAiCCI), funded by Horizon Europe, which works in a
consortium of nine partners including universities, art schools, and CCI
companies in Germany, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain,
Portugal and Czechia. EAiCCI’s ambition is to strengthen and transform
Europe’s creative and cultural industries (CCI) by fostering AI literacy
rooted in European values, developing technologies that enable new forms
of artistic expression, and empowering stakeholders with the agency to
actively shape innovation. Central to this ambition is the role of
creative and artistic thinking as a driver of cultural, technological
and economic development, and the imaginative exploration of scenarios
for European AI.
The postdoctoral position is anchored in two work packages under the
leadership of NTNU. The main tasks are related to the work package
“Mapping of the European AI Landscape: Current Realities, Relationships,
and Future Imaginaries” (WP4), which feeds into further work packages
within the consortium, as well as the cross-cutting WP 7 “Quality and
Impact Assurance, Validation and Formal Evaluation” of the project.
Duties of the position
•Contribute substantially to NTNU’s main work package tasks within the
EAICCI project
•Coordinate and collaborate with the international project partners and
other work packages
•Carry out research of high quality in a multi-method (qualitative,
quantitative) research context
•Handle data curation, formal analysis and ontological mapping
•Conduct, code and analyze the collected data (interviews, surveys,
workshops and AI dialogues)
•Oversee monitoring, validation processes and impact management
•Prepare academic publications, project reports, and industry-facing and
popular science dissemination
•Participate in international activities such as conferences and/or
research stays at foreign educational institutions
•Teaching in Film and Media Studies might be added depending on the
department's needs. If the candidate accepts the teaching duties the
position will be prolonged accordingly
•Other career-promoting work
Required selection criteria
•You must have completed a doctoral degree in Film Studies, Media
Studies, or a related discipline. A doctoral degree obtained through
artistic research or practice-based research in the relevant fields is
also eligible
•Very good oral and written presentation skills in English
•Knowledge of AI technologies, current discussions on policies and
ethics for generative AI, as well as state-of-the-art humanities-based
scholarship on generative AI
•Knowledge of European Creative and Cultural Industries
PLEASE NOTE: For detailed information about what the application must

If you do not already have educational competence that meets the
requirements for a position as associate professor in Norway, NTNU will
arrange for you to acquire such competence during the employment period.
In such cases, you will also be assigned relevant teaching as part of
the career-promoting work.
The appointment is to be made in accordance with NTNUs guidelines for
recruitment positions and Regulations concerning the degrees of
Philosophiae Doctor (PhD) and Philosophiae Doctor (PhD) in artistic
research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
for general criteria for the position.
Preferred selection criteria
•Documented prior research, publications or artistic projects on
generative AI
•Knowledge of and experience with EU-funded research and/or creative
projects
•Documented prior project management experience
•In addition to English proficiency, good oral and written presentation
skills in one or more of the languages spoken within the project
consortium, which includes partners from Germany, Norway, Belgium, the
Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal and Czechia

Salary and conditions
As a Postdoctoral Fellow (code 1352) you are normally paid from gross
NOK 633 400 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and
seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the
Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The period of employment is 3 years.
Planned start date 01.09.2026.
The position is conditional on external funding.
As an employee at NTNU, it is important to keep yourself up to date with

For the necessary professional and social interaction, it is a
prerequisite that you are physically present and available to the
institution on a daily basis.
The appointment is carried out in accordance with the principles of the
State Employees Act, and Export control (legislation that regulates the
export of knowledge, technology and services). Candidates who, after
assessment of the application and attachments, are considered to be in
conflict with the criteria in the latter act, will not be able to be
employed.
