Tue Apr 21 18:49:59 GMT 2026

It is a pleasure to invite IAMCR Colleagues and Members to contribute a chapter to our upcoming edited volume, /The Green Algorithm: Sustainable Futures in AI, Media, and Innovation/, to be published in 2027 by *Springer Nature *as part of its *Sustainability Solutions Series (*https://link.springer.com/series/59999 <https://link.springer.com/series/59999>).

*About the Volume*
*
*
As AI systems revolutionise our societal and ecological settings, and power continues to concentrate in the hands of "Big Tech", the real contradictions accompanying these developments remain pushed to the periphery. This volume seeks to bridge that gap by offering a critically grounded, interdisciplinary examination of the intersections between artificial intelligence, media systems, and sustainability.

We are specifically looking for contributions exploring Global South and North dimensions, move beyond techno-optimist narratives, and propose a more democratic and sustainable technological frameworks.

*Key Themes and Chapters*
*
*
The volume is organised into themes, including:

  *
The Ecological Footprint of AI: Energy, resource extraction, and
    e-waste.
  *
Media, Discourse, and Public Understanding: How technological change
    is framed.
  *
Innovation Ecosystems and Governance: Big Tech, decentralization,
    and policy.
  *
The Sustainability Paradox: Balancing AI-led development with human
    well-being.
