Call for Chapters: Architectures, Governance, and Operational Realities in the Symbiotic Metaverse

A call for chapters is open for the edited volume Architectures, Governance, and Operational Realities in the Symbiotic Metaverse, to be published by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.

This volume examines the Symbiotic Metaverse as an emerging socio-technical framework shaped by the convergence of artificial intelligence, extended reality, digital twins, and cyber-physical systems. It focuses on the architectures, governance models, and operational realities involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of metaverse systems across different domains.

The book welcomes theoretical and empirical contributions addressing the evolution of the metaverse from a speculative concept into a practical infrastructure for organizational, institutional, and social contexts. Particular attention is given to trust, interoperability, resilience, sustainability, human-centered design, and governance. Scholars in communication and media studies are especially encouraged to contribute.

Submission procedure:
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly outlining the focus, objectives, and relevance of the proposed chapter. Full chapters should be a minimum of 10,000 words, including references and related readings. All submissions will undergo a double-anonymized peer review process. Contributors may also be invited to serve as reviewers for the project.

There are no submission fees and no acceptance fees for this publication.

Proposal submission deadline: May 24, 2026
Notification of acceptance: June 7, 2026
Full chapter submission: July 26, 2026
Review results returned: August 30, 2026
Final acceptance notification: September 27, 2026
Final chapter submission: October 4, 2026
