*2nd AsHisCom Young Researchers international Congress 2026 *
The 2nd AsHisCom Young Researchers international Congress 2026 " will be
held at the Faculty of Information Sciences, Complutense University of
Madrid, on June 18th and 19th, 2026.
The Association of Communication Historians (AsHisCom) has among its
founding aims contributing to the rigorous study of the History of
Communication, promoting exchange among researchers and institutions
dedicated to its study, and disseminating the results of research
carried out in this field.
This objective takes on special significance when applied to the early
stages of a research career, providing doctoral students and recent PhDs
with dedicated spaces for learning, debate, methodological comparison,
and scientific dissemination.
In this context, the AsHisCom Young Researchers Congress has established
itself as a stable forum for the historical analysis of media,
discourse, cultural industries, and communication processes from a
critical and interdisciplinary perspective.
Through a rich program of thematic panels, round tables, and
workshops, participants will share research and practical experiences
focused on this topics:
-History of the general-interest, specialized, and print media.
-History of radio and television.
-Biographies of journalists, businesspeople, and other key figures in
communication.
-Corporate structure of the media and political influence.
-Media history from a gender perspective.
-History of digital media.
-Social impact of communication.
-Comparative history of media and communication systems.
The following thematic proposals are incorporated into these lines of
inquiry, with a historical and contextual approach:
-Artificial intelligence, neurocommunication, and emerging technologies
in the history and evolution of communication processes.
-Audiovisual narratives, contemporary aesthetics, and film and series
analysis from a historical and cultural perspective.
-Political, institutional, and public interest communication in
historical contexts of crisis and social transformation.
-Advertising, consumption, and sociocultural representations in the
evolution of the digital environment.
-Archaeology of digital journalism, with special attention to the thirty
years since the beginning of digital journalism in Spain. History of
disinformation, hoaxes, and propaganda in the media.
-Historical evolution of media structures and audiences.
-History of corporate, institutional, and organizational communication.
