Tue Jan 27 21:43:59 GMT 2026

*Call for Chapter Proposals – ECREA Book Series*

We at the ECREA Temporary Working Group on Aging and Communication are preparing a proposal to the ECREA Book Series in European Communication and invite colleagues to submit chapter abstracts for an edited volume titled /Aging and Communication: Rethinking Later Life in a Digitized Society/.

The book is edited by Francesca Comunello, Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol, Simone Mulargia, and Cora van Leeuwen, and builds on the work of the ECREA Temporary Working Group on Aging and Communication.

The volume aims to strengthen European scholarship on aging and communication by critically examining media representations of later life, digital ageism, communication practices of older adults, and their participation in civic and public life. It takes a critical and intersectional approach, highlighting older adults as active communicators and agents shaping media cultures.

We are applying to the ECREA Books call (Stage 2 of the ECREA Book Series selection process), with the intention of submitting the full book proposal to ECREA by the end of March 2026.

Abstract deadline: 15 February 2026
Notification of acceptance: 1 March 2026

More details about the themes, structure, and submission requirements can be found in the full call below.

No payment from the authors will be required.
