[Commlist] Children's Media Yearbook 2026 - Call
Tue Jan 27 08:57:23 GMT 2026
The Children's Media Yearbook
<https://www.thechildrensmediafoundation.org/the-childrens-media-yearbook>
wants to hear your submission ideas for the 2026 edition!
First launched in 2013, the Yearbook is the annual ‘book of record’ for
key issues and developments across children and young people’s media –
whether that be TV, Film, Books, Games, and beyond...
The Yearbook is widely read by both those that make media for children
and by those who research intersects with children’s media - as well as
by regulators and policy makers in the field. (And as such, it is a
great channel for ‘impact’; with a print copy distributed to attendees
at the annual Children’s Media Conference
<https://www.thechildrensmediaconference.com/> and the eBook widely
available)
We are looking for contributors to work up short pieces (approx. 1500
words) that are accessible to a broad readership, and we are open to
submission ideas that face any aspect of children’s and young people’s
media:
What interesting/important research (your own or others) should we be
sharing in the Yearbook ?
What trends or hot topics are live in the part of the children’s media
landscape you research or practice within ?
Are there examples of interesting/important practice that we should be
sharing ?
What are the key policy/regulatory issues that need addressing ?
What should we absolutely be talking about within the children's media
community ?
As well as being keen to share research and debate on children’s media
(in all its flavours), we are also looking for contributors who might
want to help tell (part of?) the story of the following, as they reach
significant milestones:
/Winnie-the-Pooh/ (1926)
/Postman Pat/ (1981)
Muffin the Mule (1946)
/My Little Pony/ (TV series) (1986)
/Byker Grove /(1989)
/Multi-Coloured Swap Shop/(1976)
/Rentaghost /(1976)
/Paddington/ (TV series) (1976)
/The Muppet Show/(1976)
/Cars/(2006)
We are also very open to suggestions for pieces related to any
significant children’s media milestone of your choice…
If you are interested in contributing to the Yearbook, please contact
Hannie at (editor /at/ thechildrensmediafoundation.org)
<mailto:(editor /at/ thechildrensmediafoundation.org)>
And if you have an idea that you are not quite sure fits the bill, we
would be very happy to discuss it with you
Proposal/idea submission deadline: 13th February (but feel free to get
in touch sooner)
Article submission deadline: 10th April
