The editors invite chapter proposals for an upcoming edited volume 
focusing on the political dimensions of popular culture in contemporary 
society. Pop culture functions as a primary symbolic vernacular through 
which societies imagine modernity, negotiate identities, and organize 
belonging. We seek theoretically sound and empirically rigorous 
contributions from Communication, Media Studies, Cultural Studies, and 
related disciplines that examine how aesthetic forms acquire political 
efficacy through cultural industries, media infrastructures, 
transnational circuits, and affective economies.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

– Popular culture, media industries, cinema and power structures

– Identities, representation, and political agency in pop culture

– Digital environments, platform cultures, and online communities

– Sound, music, cinema, and audiovisual media as political spaces

– Fan cultures, audience engagement, and participatory practices

– Memory, affect, and cultural narratives in pop phenomena
