[Commlist] CFP for Panel discussion of the 31 Cairo University International Conference
Wed Dec 24 09:02:19 GMT 2025
Fatma Elzahraa Elsayed is pleased to announce the call for papers for a
hybrid panel discussion at the 31st Cairo University International
Conference 2026, 6-7 May. The central theme of the conference is:
“*Knowledge Economy in the Digital Media Environment*”.
The title of the panel is: *_Generative artificial intelligence and
shaping media knowledge economy_.*
We observe that Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is acting
like a "force multiplier" in the media knowledge economy. It shifts the
landscape from a model of *knowledge scarcity* (where specialized skills
and human labor were the primary bottlenecks) to a model of *knowledge
abundance and synthesis*. Traditionally, the knowledge economy of media
was gated by high entry costs: expensive software mastery, specialized
technical skills (coding, video editing), and large production budgets.
GenAI enables individuals to produce "professional-grade" multimedia
(images, videos, and text) using natural language. This moves the value
from *technical execution* to *curation and ideation*. As a result, a
surge in "solopreneur" media brands and a more diverse range of voices
entering the market who previously lacked technical or financial capital.
Based on this conceptual framework, the panel includes (but is not
limited to) the following subthemes:
* Shifting from search-based to synthesis-based information.
* Hyper-Personalisation and the "Audience of One".
* Structural disruption of business models.
* Potential risks of commoditization and information integrity.
Proposed papers should focus on one of these subthemes and commit to the
following guidelines and documents to be sent to ((_zahraafat /at/ cu.edu.eg)
<mailto:(zahraafat /at/ cu.edu.eg)>_)
* Submit a paper abstract of 150 words by the 15th of January 2026.
* A brief bio of 100 words.
* A photocopy of the information page of the passport.
* A personal photo.
Selected papers will receive a confirmation letter with a formal
invitation from the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University by
the 20th of January 2026.
A certificate of acknowledgement will be presented to all participants
as a token of appreciation.
