*CJRN Workshop on Chinese Journalism Research*


*November 29, 2025 – Hong Kong Baptist University*

The Chinese Journalism Research Network (CJRN) invites submissions for its upcoming *full-day workshop* on *Chinese journalism research*, scheduled for *November 29, 2025*, at the School of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU).

This workshop will bring together scholars, graduate students, and experts to exchange ideas, present cutting-edge research, and discuss challenges and opportunities in the field. The program will feature:

  * *Graduate Student Presentation Panels* (10–15 selected papers).

*Note:* We will only accept submissions from *current PhD and **MPhil/Research Master’s* *students*.

  * *Roundtable Discussion* on Best Practices, Research Challenges, and
    Opportunities.
  * *Sharing *by* well-known *scholars

*Themes*

We welcome submissions on (but not limited to) the following topics:

  * Contemporary developments in Chinese journalism
  * Media policy, regulation, and public opinion guidance in China
  * Digital media, technology, and journalism innovation
  * Comparative studies of Chinese and global journalism
  * Journalism ethics and professionalism in the Chinese context
  * Historical perspectives on Chinese journalism
  * Business models of journalism in China
  * The changing boundary of Chinese journalism
  * Journalistic Roles in China
  * AI and journalism in China
  * Chinese diaspora media and communities

*Submission Guidelines*

  * *Abstract length:* 300–500 words
  * *Language:* English
  * *Include:* Title, author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and contact email
  * *Deadline for submission of Abstract:* [September 30^th , 2025]
  * *Notification of acceptance:* [October 10^th , 2025]

*Fellowship Program*

To promote diversity and inclusivity, a limited number of fellowships will be awarded to selected graduate students:

  * *Overseas students:* HKD 10,000
  * *Mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan students:* HKD 3,000

Fellowship recipients will be selected based on the quality and relevance of their proposals.
