You are warmly invited to join us for Evolution of Story III: Having a
Larp – immersion, liveness and the qualities of experience, a one-day
international online symposium exploring the cutting edge of immersive
storytelling through the lens of larp (live action role play).
Date: Tuesday 17 June 2025
Location: Online, hosted via Remo
Website & sign-up:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/evolution-of-story-iii-having-a-larp-remo-registration-tickets-1392609676029
The event brings together scholars, artists, game designers, and
theatre-makers to investigate how larp reshapes narrative, liveness,
agency, and participatory practice. The format combines pre-recorded
video papers (released in advance on our YouTube channel) with a dynamic
day of live, interactive sessions hosted on the Remo platform.
Programme highlights include:
• Filling the Void(space): Participatory Dramaturgies and Community Building
Panel hosted by Katy Naylor (Voidspace) with Jack Aldisert, Tom Black,
Owen Kingston, and Chloe Mashiter
• Spontaneity is a Lie (But a Beautiful One)
An Open Space session responding to Simon Brind’s keynote on power,
emergence, and narrative design in larp
• What We Leave Behind
An online larp hosted by Dr Adam Jerrett, using ritual and music to
explore community, memory, and meaning
The event will also launch a forthcoming special issue of Storyworlds: A
Journal of Narrative Studies (University of Nebraska Press), featuring
selected contributions from the symposium.
Call to action:
Registration for the event is free, although there will be a small
charge (approx. £3–£5) to access the Remo platform on the day. A link to
register and set up your profile will be circulated in advance.
