REGISTRATION OPEN: Migration and Technologies of Un/Bordering Conference

Silfana Nasri and Nerina Boursinou are delighted to invite you to the upcoming */Migration and Technologies of Un/Bordering Conference/*, to be held on Friday 6^th  of June at the University of Surrey (and online).

Migration is often presented as a ‘problem’ to be countered through restrictive and technologically advanced border regimes, and criminalised through surveillance and public discourses. However, technology can also enable migrants  advocate for change and build solidarity. This poster conference will explore current developments at the intersection of technology, borders and human mobility to understand the processes and implications of bordering across levels and scales. Understanding and addressing the complex role of technology is vital if we seek to dismantle systemic injustices, and foster inclusive, equitable and border-less societies.

The conference features a keynote talk from Dr Evgenia Iliadou (Independent Researcher), panel presentations from colleagues across the world and a roundtable discussion with academics, artists and practitioners in the fields of migration, borders and activism.
