[Commlist] CFP: From Adolescence to Adulthood: Uncovering Youths’ Digital Practices in a Continuously Changing World
Wed Apr 16 11:38:13 GMT 2025
Call for Papers: Special Issue of Media International Australia Journal
Topic: From Adolescence to Adulthood: Uncovering Youths’ Digital
Practices in a Continuously Changing World
Editing team: Bruce Mutsvairo, Moa Eriksson Krutrök and Tanja Bosch
The digital landscape is evolving rapidly, and so are the ways in which
young adults engage with technology. Yet, research on how youth,
especially young adults, navigate and experience digital platforms
remains limited. We’re looking for both theoretical and empirical papers
that explore this gap and provide insights into how young people
interact with technology, the consequences of these interactions, and
the unique challenges they face.
Topics include:
- Which social media platforms do youth engage with and why?
- How are young adults using digital platforms for social, political,
and economic change?
- What role does social media play in shaping youth identity and mental
health?
- How do youth from diverse cultural contexts experience online and
offline life?
- What digital skills are necessary for meaningful online participation?
Submission Deadline: July 31, 2025
The authors do not need to pay any article-processing charge (APC)
Send drafts to: (b.mutsvairo /at/ uu.nl) <mailto:(b.mutsvairo /at/ uu.nl)>
Shortlisted papers will be invited for double-blind peer review. The
final issue is expected in Q2 2026.
