CFP NordMedia Pre-Conference for Doctoral Students 2025
12 August 2025 in Odense, Denmark
Deadline for submissions: 28 February 2025
The 5th NordMedia Doctoral Pre-Conference invites doctoral students in
the Nordic countries for a one-day academic seminar prior to the
NordMedia2025 main conference (13–15 August 2025).
Participants will be selected on the basis of an abstract that will be
submitted by 28 February 2025. The number of participants in the
pre-conference is limited to 25 persons.
Attendance at the pre-conference is free. However, participants are
responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and lunch expenses.
Nordicom will provide refreshments throughout the day and host a
pre-conference dinner.
*Submission*
Abstract submissions for the pre-conference should be sent to
(submissions /at/ nordmedianetwork.org). You will receive a confirmation once
the deadline has passed.
The selected participants will be notified of acceptance by 16 April and
asked to submit a full academic paper by 16 June to be presented and
discussed at the pre-conference. The paper can be an article manuscript
or a chapter to be included in the doctoral thesis, written either in
English or Scandinavian languages. Authors will deliver an oral
presentation in English at the pre-conference.
After the pre-conference, participants have the possibility to continue
following presentations at the NordMedia25 main conference in Odense
without paying the conference fee.
*Goals and methods*
The workshop is a forum for doctoral students to network with other
Nordic scholars and scholars-to-be, and to strengthen their Nordic
academic identity. Our aim is that after the pre-conference the
participants will have feel encouraged and inspired to continue their
doctoral studies.
Each participant will receive individual feedback for their paper from a
senior scholar.
Additionally, one part of the workshop will be dedicated to the exchange
of experiences and career advice. We will employ different working
methods in the workshop, including lectures and group discussions.
Participants of the pre-conference should be affiliated with a Nordic
university or conducting research that shows a clear Nordic connection
(e.g. in terms of topic or data collection).
