*Seeking Participants for NCA Panel: “This Kitchen Kills Fascists” 
(Critical and Cultural Studies)*

Food is political. The acts of production, distribution, and consumption 
of food are deeply rooted in ideologies, identity (gender, race, 
ethnicity, etc), colonialism, and more. In recent years, food producers, 
distributors, and consumers are increasingly more vocal about 
disparities and injustices. For example, Wisconsin’s spice company 
Penzeys uses marketing communication to call out President Trump and 
Republicans in Congress. The Bronx-based collective Ghetto Gastro calls 
themselves modern day Robin Hoods, using food activism to provide for 
their community. And free food fridge movements across the U.S. frame 
social media posts around mutual aid and food apartheid messages.

In response to NCA’s convention theme of Communicate to Elevate, the 
panel “This Kitchen Kills Fascists” (working title) seeks four 
presenters (or three presenters and a respondent) to speak to how food 
producers, distributors, and consumers use different media platforms to 
amplify marginalized voices and organize resistance.

Interested participants are encouraged to send a title, abstract (150 
words maximum), and contact information to Diana Willis at

2025, for consideration.
