Fri Feb 14 10:06:34 GMT 2025
This summer, Minnesota State University, Mankato will offer a 4-week
online course on autoethnography. Combining asynchronous coursework
(reading, video lectures, etc.) with weekly synchronous meetings held
via Zoom, the course will run from June 2 through June 27, 2025, and all
synchronous meetings will take place on Wednesdays from 11am-12:30pm US
Central Time (June 4, 11, 18, & 25). Although anyone with an interest in
autoethnography is welcome, the course would be perfect for:
  * Current scholars from any disciplinary background who want to become
    familiar with autoethnography
  * Graduate students who need training/support in autoethnographic methods
  * Community educators, activists, artists, and others who want to
incorporate autoethnographic reflection into their work or practice
The course will cover foundational aspects of autoethnography, including
but not limited to: the history of autoethnographic research and
writing; orientations and approaches to autoethnography (e.g.,
evocative, analytic, critical); characteristics of successful
autoethnographic projects such as reflexivity, resonance, and
social/cultural insight; sources of autoethnographic data, including
personal experience, interviews, observations, and textual artifacts;
writing as inquiry; storytelling and scenes; and non-textual forms of
autoethnography (e.g., performance, visual arts).
