Overview
/AI Revolution in Media and Communication: Shaping Teaching & Practice
in Africa/ is an innovative edited volume that seeks to explore how
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping and transforming media
landscapes on both a regional and global scale. We invite submissions
that blend theoretical insights with practical case studies to examine
AI’s integration into media education, journalism, and other
media-related professional practices. This volume will critically
address the ethical dilemmas, policy challenges, and shifts in the job
market while showcasing pioneering AI-driven media projects across
Africa. By offering strategic recommendations for educators, media
professionals, and policymakers, the book promises to empower
stakeholders to harness AI’s transformative potential. With its
comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach, this volume has strong
global appeal as an essential resource for academia, industry leaders,
and government agencies navigating the digital revolution.
Call for Contributions
We welcome submissions from scholars, practitioners, and organizations
to contribute original chapters that examine both the teaching and
practice of Artificial Intelligence in media and communication studies
and practice. Submissions may be driven by theory or practice insights
and can include empirical papers, critical analyses, case studies,
interviews, or evidence-based insights on the ramifications of the nexus
between the media and Artificial Intelligence across diverse contexts in
Africa. Chapters should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words.

Submission Process
Kindly submit an abstract of 250-300 words, along with a brief biography
of no more than 150 words, highlighting your background, expertise, and
experience. Please ensure that your abstract includes a concise
introduction, objectives, methodology, and contributions to both
academic knowledge and practical application.

*About the Editors*
The book is edited by Dr. Abdulgaffar Arikewuyo, a highly accomplished
academic, media professional, and award-winning lecturer with extensive
experience in broadcast journalism and higher education. An associate
lecturer at London Metropolitan University, his research interests span
communication psychology, multimedia, social media, interpersonal
communication, and journalism and Professor Lambe Mustapha is a
distinguished scholar in the Department of Mass Communication at the
University of Ilorin. A former Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow at
Universiti Sains Malaysia, he currently serves as a Scientific Advisor
at RUDN University, Moscow. His research focuses on Political
Communication, Media Effects, and Social Media Studies. He has held
various administrative roles, including Head of Department and
Examination Commissioner. Their combined expertise adds substantial
