We are looking forward to your submissions.

Games and play with their combination of immersion, interactivity, and co-creativity are uniquely suited to create and share visions and versions of livable futures. This year we are especially interested in research on games from all kinds of perspectives that focuses on the ways in which games can contribute to extending and supporting imagination, allow critical thinking and alternative visions, and in a time of crisis on the planet carry visions of positive, hopeful, and humane futures. This can be both showing desirable futures or creating a practical path towards them through action.

The Game Studies division welcomes both theoretical and practical work, game design research and research through design, as well as analytic and exploratory work or steps towards policy or education. Digital games are the primary focus of this division, but also analog games are welcome.

Some of the topics we are interested in are:

- Games and sustainability
- Games and the cultural imaginary
- Games and alternative/speculative futures
- Games and hope
- Games and critical thinking
- Games and education for survival
- Games and the organization of social movements
- Games and activism

Communication and Media Studies scholars are more than welcome to join the group and event.
