[Commlist] Intersectional Humanities Summer School- Ireland 2025

Mon Dec 16 14:38:34 GMT 2024

The inaugural *European Intersectional Humanities Summer School* will be held at Maynooth University in Summer 2025. It will offer an innovative and transformative experience at the intersection of critical theory, social justice and humanities scholarship. Convened by _Professor Anna Hickey-Moody <https://www.maynoothuniversity.ie/faculty-arts-humanities/our-people/anna-hickey-moody>_, the Summer School will bring together scholars, activists and students for an immersive exploration of how intersectionality shapes and is shaped by the human experience across various fields of inquiry.

With a focus on fostering inclusive, interdisciplinary dialogue, this immersive event features an exceptional lineup of guest teachers including Tapasya Narang, Jeneen Naji, Jennifer Redmond, Dónal Hassett, Divya Garg, Marissa Willcox, Gavan Titley, Sandy O'Sullivan and Richard Huddleson. These expert voices contribute to the rich landscape of discussions and practice-based workshops that address key themes of race, gender, identity, coloniality and the socio-political dynamics influencing the humanities today. The Summer School not only provides a platform for engaging with complex ideas but also emphasises the importance of building solidarity across diverse communities.

The Intersectional Humanities Summer School will held on the North campus in the Arts & Humanities Institute. Maynooth University is located in the heart of Ireland's only historic university town. Many of the oldest buildings and trees in the town are on the South campus, which is a short stroll away and dates back to 1795. Attendees will be accommodated on-campus and are connected to the nearby Dublin city centre by rail or bus.
