*Fourth Doctoral Forum in Arab and MENA Media and Communication Research*

**

The Arab Media and Communication Network (AMCN) and the Department of Mass Communication, College of Arts and Social Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University will be hosting: /The Fourth Doctoral Forum in Arab Media and Communication Research/.

Date: 17-19 February 2025

Venue: Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

*Introduction: *

This doctoral forum aims to provide a common research platform between postgraduate students and their professors on the one hand, and between doctoral students and their colleagues in Arab, Asian and Western Universities. This scientific event will enable graduate students in media and communication sciences to present and discuss their research works and engage with scholars in the field. This forum takes place in the context of what the Arab region is witnessing in terms of geopolitical challenges and unprecedented tensions not least the war on Palestine and Lebanon. The forum also takes place amid significant technological developments in internet and social media platforms and their role in transforming journalism practice.

The pace of these transformations in the field of media in the Arab world (the Internet, social networks, satellite broadcasting, public relations, etc.) has become faster than the ability of scholars to interpret and analyze their impact on society and politics. This begs the need to bring together scholars in a more regular manner to decipher the consequences of such technological developments and analise their current and future potential impact.
