The 20th and 21st centuries have witnessed the phenomenal development of
Asia as a major producer of culture and popular entertainment,
especially the proliferation of TV series broadcasted on various local,
regional, and global platforms, with multilingual subtitles. With their
diversity of genres, ranging from romantic comedies to Boys Love (BL)
narratives, martial arts to time-travel, historical dramas to science
fiction, these dramas offer a wide array of works to global audiences.
Therefore, we invite contributions from various perspectives, not
limited solely to critical practices in communication, media and
cultural studies but also integrating theoretical concepts and
disciplinary frameworks such as philosophy, history, political science,
sociology, psychology, linguistics, theology and spirituality, business,
law, and fan studies, among others. Interdisciplinary approaches are
more than welcome and appreciated.
Please feel free to reach out Dr. Anderson Lopes, Chulalongkorn
University ((anderson.l /at/ chula.ac.th)), and Dr. Shirley Lua, De La Salle
University ((shirley.lua /at/ dlsu.edu.ph)) for any questions or inquiries
about the event dynamics. Furthermore, we plan to compile a book
featuring the best works, with publication slated for 2025.
