*Assistant Professor in Multimedia, 3 year fixed term contract DCU
School of Communications*
*Profile*
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are seeking an individual
with a strong academic track record that expands the existing teaching
and research strengths of the School of Communications. The appointee
will have an exciting opportunity to add new teaching and research
dimensions to the BSc in Multimedia and the MSc in Emerging Media. The
role includes teaching, project supervision, student mentoring, and
administrative duties as allocated by the Head of School. The appointee
is required to manage a high-quality research and creative practice
agenda and to actively participate in the School’s external engagement
activities.
*Salary scale*
Assistant Lecturer (Above Bar): €59,508 - €95,366*
Assistant Lecturer (Below Bar): €44,875 - €61,328
*must have a PhD to be considered for the above bar salary scale
*Qualifications and Experience*
- Applicants should hold a PhD (or be near completion) in Multimedia or
a cognate discipline.
- Applicants should demonstrate subject area expertise in one the
following areas: Emerging Visual Technologies (including 3D Design, VR,
AR, and Video Post-Production); Interaction Design and/or Game
Development; Other areas of emerging media and associated fields.
- Applicants should have teaching experience at undergraduate and/or
postgraduate level, ideally including experience in innovative
pedagogies and/or assessments.
- Applicants should demonstrate relevant industry experience or
knowledge of emerging media practices and standards.
- Applicants should have strong research credentials and a publication
record and/or a strong practice-based creative output appropriate to
their career stage. They should also outline their potential to
sustain/attract funding for such activity.
A- pplicants should, in their cover letter, outline their potential
contribution to the School’s teaching and research agenda with specific
reference to the future development of the BSc in Multimedia and the MSc
in Emerging Media programmes.
