to the ICA post-conference “Sustainability Communication in Local
Are(n)as: Towards a Better Understanding of Culturally Diverse
Strategies and Practices:”

The submission deadline for 500-word abstracts (excluding bibliography)
is *17 February 2023*. Acceptance notifications will go out in mid-March
2023.
The post-conference will take place on 30 May 2023 at the Toronto
Metropolitan University <https://www.torontomu.ca/> (exact location
tba), but everyone can also participate remotely via Zoom. There is no
registration fee.
We invite contributions around the following topics:
* Theories, concepts, and paradigms of researching sustainability
communication from the global to the local
* Social psychological approaches to (un)sustainable behaviour
* Corporate greenwashing and corporate image repair to appear sustainable
* Mediatized and non-mediatized “Net-zero” discourses
* Methodological innovations in environmental & sustainability
communication research
* Innovative means to communicate about sustainability (storytelling,
gamification, 3D visualisations, participatory approaches, etc.)
* Strategic sustainability communication and change management
* Agency, expertise and authorities in climate change and sustainability
* Transformative journalism, PR and communication
* The role of local media & journalism in sustainability discourses
* Communicating climate solutions and mitigations
* Teaching on sustainability and communicating climate solutions
* Intercultural differences and challenges in communicating of, about
and for sustainability
* Transcultural approaches to sustainability communication
* Art-based approaches in sustainability communication
* Pedagogical innovations in teaching sustainability communication
