[Commlist] CFP Space and Place in Virtual Worlds Conference
Wed Jun 29 17:27:03 GMT 2022
MultiPlay's conference to start the academic year 2022/2023 is focused
upon the theme of space and place. The conference will be an online
event. Presentations will last twenty minutes, with a ten-minute
question and answer session at the end of each slot. *We are currently
seeking abstracts to be submitted to (networkmultiplay /at/ gmail.com) by
Friday 8th of July.*
We ask for submissions to consist of a 300 word (maximum) proposal,
including references using the Harvard reference style guide, as well as
a short author biography of no more than 100 words. These should be
emailed to (networkmultiplay /at/ gmail.com) with the heading ‘Space and Place’.
* Some prompts for abstracts include (but in no way should limit
submissions):
* Virtual worlds and shifting environments
* Relationships between the avatar and space
* Gaming homes – when playable characters are rooted to one place
* How gaming places shift through time (travel)
* Futuristic spaces – utopian or dystopian?
* The architecture of cyberpunk games
* The gamer as an architect – creating spaces through play
If you have any further questions, please email (networkmultiplay /at/ gmail.com)
