The *Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences* (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the *disciplinary* approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.

The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on *social, economic, political *and*educational* issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers four Bachelor and 15 Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.

*Your Role...*

The PLDP (Luxembourg Platform for Participatory Democracy, future Luxembourg Platform for Media and Participatory Democracy) is looking to hire a postdoctoral researcher in Media Studies. The postdoc will be hired to work on the Medialux project resulting from collaboration between the PLDP and the Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital policy (SMC) from the Ministry of State in Luxembourg. In collaboration with the Principal Investigator, the post-doc will be asked to carry out an annual survey of the media landscape in Luxembourg, to conduct research in the field of media, communications and digital technology, and to organize an annual cycle of public conferences on the subject of media in society. He/she will be a member of the Department of Humanities and of the PLDP. Additionally, the postdoc will have the opportunity to pursue their personal research project in relation to the topics covered by Medialux.

*What we expect from you…*

The candidate we are looking for should have a background in media studies and an interest in analyzing the Luxembourgish media landscape. We seek a highly motivated candidate with the following profile:

  * PhD in social science, law or related disciplines
  * Experience with scholarly approaches to the analysis of media (e.g.,
    history, philosophy, law, sociology)
  * Good in quantitative methods
  * Good interpersonal and communication skills, including dissemination
    of research outcomes
  * Good management skills
  * A strong commitment to interdisciplinarity
  * Ability to work in a multilingual environment
  * Experience in teaching at Bachelor and Master level will be a plus
  * Enthusiastic about, commitment for, and enjoyment of research

*Languages*

The University of Luxembourg is located in a multilingual context. The Department of Humanities has four working languages (English, French, German, Luxembourgish). The person hired on this position must therefore be proficient in English and either French or German.

  * Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract 24 Month with possibility of renewal
  * Work Hours: Full Time 40.0 Hours per Week (if full time) or 32.00
    hours (if 80%)

The yearly gross salary for every Postdoctoral Researcher at the UL is EUR 77.167,08 (full time)
