This is a 1.0 fte permanent lectureship in Digital Politics. Digital Politics is an area of growing strength for the department of History, Politics and Philosophy at Manchester Met and the successful applicant will join our expanding  team to teach units on digital politics and political communication on the MA in International Relations and Global Communications, the MSc Digital Society, and our undergraduate programmes. Other responsibilities will include the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and acting as a personal tutor. The successful candidate for this post will be an expert on the impact of digital technologies on contemporary politics and/or international relations. The ability to teach quantitative research methods is also desirable, though not essential.  You will hold a good first degree and a doctorate in a relevant subject  area.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Manchester Metropolitan University is a unique environment where Humanities, Languages and Social Sciences sit alongside the Manchester School of Art and the Manchester Fashion Institute. Student experience is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to offer state-of-the-art facilities, including digital and technical workshops, studios and gallery spaces designed to enhance learning and collaboration.

Situated within the Arts & Humanities Faculty, The Department of History, Politics and Philosophy brings together the expertise of over 50  academic staff. The Politics and International Relations team are a highly professional and collegiate group who have been proactive in establishing innovative programmes of study to serve the needs of a 300+ undergraduate and postgraduate student population. Our staff have a variety of research specialisms beyond digital politics including US foreign policy, the EU, political philosophy, civil society and social movement studies, energy politics, and critical approaches to international relations.

It is expected that the post-holder will join and make a contribution to one of the Faculty's research centres, ideally the Research Centre for Applied Social Science (RCASS). The successful candidate should accordingly have a successful research record commensurate with their career stage.

The anticipated start date for the successful applicant is August 2022.
