Media Practice and Education is the leading global forum for sharing 
creative media praxis research. The journal sees media practice as broad 
ranging and interdisciplinary, enabling it to make an impactful 
contribution to the advancement of practice-based knowledge. The Board 
are committed to encouraging the exploration of the interplay between 
critical and theoretical reflection and the creative practice of media 
practitioners and media practice educators.
Media Practice and Education is keen to recruit a new editor with 
experience in transcultural media practice and production, as well as an 
academic background in media education. The successful candidate must 
have the passion to drive the journal forward enhancing its reach and 
reputation. Cognisant of the imperatives of decolonisation, the 
successful candidate will actively enhance the journal’s inclusivity, 
leading and shaping the dynamic dialogue within the editorial board to 
envision strategies that enact decolonisation within media practice 
research.This is a significant opportunity to help shape the future of 
an increasingly important field.
The successful candidate will be responsible for editorial oversight and 
decision-making on submissions. They will have authority to accept 
articles following successful peer review and will ensure that reviewers 
and authors adhere to the Journal’s Code of Publishing Ethics. There 
will be an agreed handover period with the out-going Editor to ensure 
seamless transition. The board is open to the appointment of a sole 
editor or co-editors and administrative support for the role from within 
the successful applicant/s institution is desirable.
Taylor & Francis will provide remuneration for the role to cover any 
journal-related expenses. Taylor & Francis will supply annual reports 
reflecting on the performance of the Journal. The Journal utilises an 
online submission and peer review system, through Editorial Manager.
Becoming the editor of a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling 
experience where you will build your own networks, promote the research 
that you are passionate about, and be recognized as a leading figure 
within the academic community.

looking for in a successful applicant:*
  * Confidence to engage with authors and researchers to solicit the
    highest quality submissions including an awareness of different
    media production contexts;
  * The ability to envision a decolonising agenda for media practice
    research that renews our commitment to anti-racism, enhances the
    journal’s inclusivity and builds methods for support to
    under-represented and under-resourced communities;
  * An active participant in the field of media practice with dynamic
    networks;
  * Strong organizational skills to ensurethat submissions are handled
    in a timely manner;
  * The ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues
    such as Associate Editors.
  * Editor(s) do not need to be UK-based.
_TIMELINE_
Applications deadline: Mon Oct 12^th . Interviews; Fri Oct 30th - times 
TBC according to time zones. We hope the successful applicant(s) will 
start the role formally in early January 2021. As stated, this position 
may be available as a co-editorship – please note your interest in this 
in your application.

statement should be no longer than two pages of A4 and should cover:
  * Goals and Vision for the journal with an eye towards the growing
    field of media practice research;
  * Where you believe the field is going, and the journal’s place 
within it;
  * How you would work in partnership with the editorial board;
  * How you would maintain and increase the quality of submissions;
  * How you would work with authors.
The application package should also include a representative sample of 
practice that reflects the applicant’s interest/activity in the field of 
media practice research.
