[Commlist] Research Fellow in Digital Culture

The School of Media, Arts and Humanities at the University of Sussex 
wishes to appoint a Research Fellow in Digital Culture

Appointment from 1 September 2020 to contribute to developing research 
in digital media cultures in the school. The successful candidate will 
normally: • Possess a completed doctorate in a relevant academic 
discipline • Demonstrate evidence of engagement in high-quality research 
activity • Contribute to the development of digital media, arts and 
humanities research • Engage with digital production, arts and/or 
cultural practices, and/or digital humanities and methods. • Demonstrate 
research links to feminist science studies, critical race studies and/or 
work on gender and sexuality.

1. To conduct practice based and/or theoretically based research 
activity in areas across digital culture, digital arts and digital 
humanities, with an ability to engage with critical race studies, 
feminist science studies and queer studies.
2. To undertake independent as well as guided and collaborative research 
on projects engaging with intersections across race, gender, sexuality 
and aspects of digital culture including genomics, algorithms, machine 
learning and AI.
3. To undertake the above in line with realising goals set out in the 
university’s strategic plan.
