*JCMR Releases Vol. 12, No. 1, April 2020 edition – 24^th Issue*
We are pleased to announce the release of Volume 12, Number 1, April
2020 edition which is the 24^th issue of the /Journal of Communication
and Media Research/ published since the journal started publication in
2009. Every issue has been released regularly and on schedule in April
and October of every year. The Volume 12, Number 1, April 2020 issue
focuses on *Media Credibility, **Women in Journalism, Youths & the
Media, PR & Advertising, and Conflict Reporting.* The issue contains 13
articles written by 20 authors (12 from Nigeria, three from the United
States of America, two from Kenya, and one each from India, Sierra
Leone, and Zimbabwe. Soft copies in PDF are being sent to contributors
through email while complimentary print copies will be sent by surface
mail after the COVID-19 lockdown. The online versions of the abstracts
and full articles are also being uploaded onto our website:
www.jcmrjournal.org <http://www.jcmrjournal.org>. Interested readers are
free to order for either the print version or the PDF copies or both.
We also wish to remind you that it is just 9 days to the end of
*submission of manuscripts for the Volume 12 Number 2, October 2020*
issue of the journal. The window of the Call for Papers for this issue
which has been open since January 03, 2020 and which ought to have ended
on March 28, 2020, w*as extended by four weeks to Saturday, 25^th April
2020 as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown.* We urge you to take
advantage of this extension and send your submissions in Microsoft Word

* Atkin,*David J. (Ph.D., Michigan State University) is a
professor in the Department of Communication at the University of
Connecticut. His interests include digital media policy and the
adoption, uses, and effects of emerging media.
* Caldiero,* Christopher, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor,
Communication Studies, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison New
* Viens,*Alyce E. (M.A. Bryant University) is a doctoral
student in the Department of Communication at the University of
Connecticut. Her primary research area is nested in mass communication
and media effects. She is interested in consumption patterns and how
that influences individual-level effects.
*Barik,* Anupa is a final year doctoral student at MICA, Shela, off
Telav-Ghuma Road, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. She specialises in the area
of media journalism, gender studies, culture, and communication studies.
* Chebii,* Stella Jerop, Ph.D. is a lecturer at Moi University
in Kenya with a PhD in communication studies. She specializes in
teaching and supervising students in Gender and Communication related
areas as well as media studies.
*Chege,* Simon Kihiu is a doctoral student in the Department of
Communication Studies, Moi University and lecturer in the Faculty of ICT
at Zetech University both in Kenya.
*Sowa,* Francis Ph.D., is a Lecturer at Fourah Bay College, University
of Sierra Leone, Sierra Leone. His research interests are strategic
media management, media law and regulation, media and peace building,
human rights and elections.
* Mukenge,* Clemenciana is a lecturer of Communication Skills
in Linguistics Department, University of Zimbabwe, Mount Pleasant,
Harare, Zimbabwe. Her research interests are; HIV and AIDS
communication, Language and Media, ‘New Englishes’ and English as a

Department of Communication and Language Arts, Faculty of Arts,
University of Ibadan. He specializes in media studies and journalism,
and marketing communications.
*Akpoveta,* Emmanuel Ejomafuvwe, Ph.D., is a Principal Lecturer in the
Department of Mass Communication, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku,
Delta State, Nigeria. His areas of research interest are conflict,
business and organizational communication.
*Ayo-Obiremi,*IfeKristi T’Olulola is a Graduate Assistant in the Mass
Communication Programme, College of Computing and Communication Studies,
Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State. Her areas of research interest are
advertising, marketing and consumer behaviour.
*Azeez,* Adepeju Wasilat is of the Department of Mass Communication,
University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria. She is interested in pursuing

specializes in media studies and journalism, communication theory and
ethics, new media, reading, and development communication.
*Olopha,* Anthony Ifidon is of the Department of Mass Communication,
Crawford University, Atan-Agbara Road, Faith City, Ogun State, Nigeria.
*Oluyemi,* Abimbola Adekemi is of the Department of Mass Communication,
Crawford University,Atan-Agbara Road, Faith City, Ogun State, Nigeria.
*Onwunali,* Charles Chinedu, Ph.D. is a Senior Lecturer in the
Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria.
His main research and teaching interests include Advertising and
Consumer Rights Protection, Advertising Ethics and Public Policy, the
role of Gender in Social, Political and Economic Developments.
*Ufuophu-Biri,* Emmanuel, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Mass
Communication and Journalism at the Delta State University, Abraka,
Nigeria. He was the Head of Department, Mass Communication. He is
