[Commlist] cfp: computational analysis methods & fundamentalist extremism

We are putting together a panel for submission to the 2020 International 
Communication Association (ICA) conference to be held May 21-25, 2020 in 
Gold Coast Australia. Specifically, the panel will be submitted to the 
Computational division.

In accordance with the conference theme, Open Communication, our panel 
will concentrate around the ways in which computational analysis methods 
can help explore fundamentalist extremism of all stripes in online 
spaces. This topic is particularly salient when one considers the 
ubiquity of social media and smart phones, as well as other digital 
spaces well-suited to strategic uses by violent actors. As such, this 
panel focuses specifically on methods including (but not exclusive to) 
data scraping, LDA, dictionary methods, etc. to effectively trace the 
myriad representations and flows of violent extremist actors and 
discourses in all their iterations, as well as draw the lines between 
and among the same.
