Play the Game 2019: Athlete power on the rise
13-16 October 2019, Colorado Springs, CO, USA

Play the Game 2019 invites journalists, reporters, academics, athletes,
sports and government officials, and all other stakeholders in sport to
share their knowledge, experience and opinions in Colorado Springs, Colo.,
from 13-16 October, 2019 – at the 11th edition of a conference that has a
history of more than 20 years as a cutting edge forum for independent and
fact-based debate about sports. Join them in debates on sports governance,
corruption and crime, safeguarding of athletes, the future of anti-doping
and other vital issues in sport.

Though no issue is excluded in advance, the main conference themes are the
following: - Breaking news or faking news: The industry of integrity
- Sports governance: Tracking the voice of the athletes
- Anti-doping: Can the confidence crisis be overcome?
- Corruption and crime in sport: Too big to tackle?
- Children at risk: Protecting athletes against abuse
- Breaking monopolies: Can anybody own a sport?
- Rethinking sport and physical activity: Time to play again?

The deadline for abstract/storyline submissions is Monday, 20 May, 2019.

Abstracts/storylines will be peer reviewed by the conference Programme
Committee. Academic abstracts will be peer reviewed by academics in a
double-blind process. Communication and media scholars are welcome to
participate and comprise a significant portion of the audience.

Scholars preparing major research projects or campaigns are encouraged to
launch the project at the conference. Play the Game expects around 100
journalists representing media across the globe and is an ideal platform for
reaching a worldwide audience and building lasting working relations.

Play the Game is an international conference and communication initiative
aiming to strengthen the ethical foundation of sport and promote democracy,
transparency and freedom of expression in sport.
