[Commlist] Synoptique Vol 8, No 1 - Becoming Environmental - published

Tue Mar 19 16:25:00 GMT 2019

We are excited to announce that Synoptique: An Online Journal of Film and Moving Image Studieshas just released its new issue, 8.1, “Becoming Environmental: Media, Logistics, and Ecological Change”, guest-edited edited by Patrick Brodie (Concordia University), Lisa Han (UC Santa Barbara), and Weixian Pan (Concordia University).

This special issue tackles the most recent debates on the increasing entanglements of global economies of extraction and the circulation of media. Contributions to this issue expand the understanding of media, taking into account how they become constitutive to the environment and subject formation within it.

Moreover, this issue includes a separate large festival review section, with pieces on events from Montreal and beyond.

Please take a look at the table of contents below and review the selection of articles on our site: www.synoptique.ca <http://www.synoptique.ca>. We invite you to share any pieces that strike you with your peers.

We also invite you to look at our new Call for Papers on “Animating LGBTQ+ Representations: Queering the Production of Movement”: https://synoptique.ca/cfp-9-1-animating-lgbtq-representations-queering-the-production-of-movement/
