The Department of Media sits within the Glasgow School for Business in
Society at GCU. Glasgow is Scotland’s media city, and GCU’s media &
journalism team plays a central role in all the latest developments.
Applications are invited for a 0.5FTE/fixed term Lectureship in Media
based within the Department of Media. he successful candidate will lead
and teach modules in Media for our undergraduate and postgraduate
programmes BA Media and Communication, BA Multimedia Journalism and MA
Multimedia Journalism. Modules include Fan Cultures, Media Industries
and dissertation supervision.
Candidates will be expected to have a PhD in a relevant area and meet
the following essential criteria:
Critical understanding of key theoretical frameworks that underpin the
study of Media
Research expertise in Media or a relevant specialism
Experience of module and teaching administration
Experience of teaching Media modules
Familiarity with contemporary issues in Media
Flexibility and the ability to work independently and use own initiative
Ability to play a leading role within a team environment and to motivate
colleagues
Ability to contribute to the strategic development of the department
through, for example, developing new research directions, industry
collaborations or knowledge
