Hosted by the Radio, TV and Cinema Department at Kadir Has University, 
New Directions in Turkish Film Studies conference is the largest in its 
field and brings together scholars, film professionals and critics.

In the previous years, we have hosted international academics such as 
Ella Shohat, Laura Mulvey, Christine Gledhill, Andrew Higson, Dudley 
Andrew, John Hill, Philip Rosen, Robert Burgoyne and Mary Ann Doane 
among other names.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this year’s New Directions in Turkish 
Film Studies Conference scrutinizes the socio-cultural, political and 
economic aspects of migration and its influence on contemporary film and
