Cities pose a number of challenges when it comes to visualisation. These include issues such as audience heterogeneity, data accessibility and quality, single issue vs multi-topic and many more. Visualisations of city spaces in the form of dashboards, infographics and interactive graphics of specific topics help to increase awareness as well as potentially foster deeper knowledge of localities. They are capable of conveying information quicker and more easily than the same data presented in textual form, and are generally designed to be appealing to a wide range of users. Yet, little research has been carried out into the effectiveness of such visualisations.

With this special track we aim to encourage people working in EGov, visualisation and/or HCI related areas to submit relevant papers. Research should focus on how to further our understanding of the goals and specific challenges inherent in city visualisations. In particular we hope to facilitate increased engagement with city visualisations from these perspectives as these are most relevant, but other perspectives are also welcome. However, papers must include clear links to the EGov domain. Below is a list of suggested subtopics - other areas may also be considered but please contact us first.

Topics include, but not limited to:

  *

    Participation of citizens in city visualisation activities

  * Issues of data quantity and how to visualise this
  * Issues of data quality and how to visualise this
  * New visualisation types specific to the city context
  * Evaluations of City Visualisations (single topic, multi-topic, or
    dashboards)
  * Mapping of City Visualisations (single topic, multi-topic, or
    dashboards)
  * Analysis of City Visualisations (single topic, multi-topic, or
    dashboards)
  * Visualisation examples from other domains that would be applicable
    to the city context
  * Real-time city visualisations (including IoT and Smart City)
  * Public Policy Communication
