SUNY Oneonta is hiring a tenure track Assistant Professor of Media
Studies. The ideal candidate will be a scholar-practitioner with some

Job Description:
The Department of Communication and Media at the State University of New
York College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position
as an Assistant Professor of Media Studies beginning Fall 2018.
Expectations include teaching, research, student advisement, college
service, and continuing professional development. The Department of
Communication and Media at SUNY Oneonta is a community of learners,
scholars and practitioners with a mission to foster critical,
collaborative, creative communicators and active, informed citizens who
contribute meaningfully to their communities and professions. The
department currently has over 500 majors, making it one of the largest

Duties include but not limited to: teaching 21 credit hours an academic
year; advising students; contributing to departmental activities;
engaging in research and/or creative endeavors; teaching courses such as
Digital Storytelling, Research Methods in Mass Media and Senior Seminar
in Media Studies.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications: PhD in media studies, cultural studies or a
closely related field by the time of first renewal notification;
experience as a practitioner in a digital media industry; a demonstrable
commitment to approaching research cross-culturally.
Preferred: experience representing reality across a variety of
platforms and modes of storytelling; experience teaching undergraduate
media production courses; experience helping students develop as local
and global citizens through experiential learning, community engagement
or immersion experiences; and experience working with diverse
populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching
experience.
