http://www.aspera.org.au/uncategorised/annual-aspera-2018-conference-call-for-papers/
The Australian Screen Production Education and Research Association (ASPERA) 2018 annual Conference will be held at the VCA, University of Melbourne, Australia, between *27 and 29 June 2018*. This year’s conference theme is *Screen Interventions*. We’re interested in the ways that screen production can be used to ‘intervene’ in wider cultural, social and political ideas and debates; how interventions might be made with, by and/or for the screen; and what interventions have taken place in screen production education and research. We encourage those submitting abstracts to interpret this theme variously. The conference convenors invite papers, topics for panels, interactive workshops, posters and exhibits that explore the concept of screen interventions. Both double-blind, peer reviewed full papers, and non-peer reviewed papers are welcome to be presented. Double-blind peer reviewed papers will have the opportunity to be published after the conference in a *special issue of Refractory: a Journal of Entertainment Media* (https://refractory-journal.com <https://refractory-journal.com>). Postgraduate student submissions, and submissions from international academics and practitioners, are strongly encouraged.
Please submit all proposals and enquiries to *(conference /at/ aspera.org.au)*
*Important Deadlines*
·       All abstracts of 250 to 300 words, plus author/s biographical details up to a maximum 100 words, are due by *Monday 22 January 2018*. ·       Please make it very clear in your submission if you intend to deliver a fully written paper for double-blind peer review prior to the conference, for publication (see below). ·       All successful abstract submissions will be notified in early-mid February. ·       For those submitting work for double-blind peer review, full draft papers of 4000-5000 words must be submitted by *Monday 30 April 2018*. ·       Feedback on papers submitted for double-blind peer review will be made available in advance of the conference so that authors have the opportunity to incorporate suggested changes in their presentation, and then updated drafts by the end of the year. The special issue will be published in early 2019.
*Refereed Conference Proceedings*
Previous years’ refereed conference proceedings and journal special issues offer an idea of the content and scholarship required, and can be viewed at www.aspera.org.au <http://www.aspera.org.au>
*Refereeing Guidelines for Papers*
Anonymous/de-identified papers will be sent to at least two referees, who will complete referee reports and make suggestions regarding editing, and reworking or development of content to increase the suitability of the paper for the conference and publication. The recommendations will be forwarded to the author for attention before the paper is presented at the conference and accepted for publication. To enable ‘blind’ reviewing, authors must ensure that the author/s name, biographical details, their organisation, contact details and word count, along with any text or images within the paper identifying authors, are supplied via a separate Word file as part of the initial submission. The paper, with only the title and word count at the top of the first page, should be a separate Word or PDF file with no author/s identifiable content.
*Preparation of Papers*
Papers should be between 4000 and 5000 words for publication purposes.
When preparing papers please take account of the following requirements:
·       Acknowledgements must be included (funding support etc.)
·       All contributions must be written in English.
·       Font Calibri and text size 11 point with headings in Title Case.
·       Papers must be submitted in Word or PDF format only for peer review.

For details on referencing and other stylistic concerns, please see https://refractory-journal.com/submission-guidelines/ <https://refractory-journal.com/submission-guidelines/>

PLEASE NOTE: The length of each conference presentation, be it a paper, or a slot within a panel, will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of questions/discussions.
