[ecrea] CHI Play 17 Amsterdam
Sun Sep 10 12:30:08 GMT 2017
Just a small reminder that early registration is still open for CHIPLAY
2017 until September 15th, http://chiplay.acm.org.
I’d like to personally invite you to the CHI Play 2017 conference (Oct.
15-18) that we are organizing in Amsterdam. Let me update you on the
upcoming conference and possibilities to attend, especially the keynote
of Prof Ian Bogost, which is open to the public on Sunday evening,
October 15th. CHI PLAY is an international and interdisciplinary
conference (by ACM SIGCHI) for researchers and professionals across all
areas of play, games and human-computer interaction (HCI). We call this
area “player-computer interaction.” More information is available at
http://chiplay.acm.org.
This year we have received a record number of submissions, and we were
able to select a excellent group of papers for presentation! CHI Play is
a single-track conference with a friendly community, and attendees will
easily mingle and connect with presenters. Early-bird discount ends on
September 15, be sure to register before then
(http://chiplay.acm.org/2017/registration/).
To make the conference more accessible for everyone, we decided to place
Ian Bogost’s opening keynote on Sunday October 15th evening, and provide
super-discounted tickets (30 Euros, students 15 Euros - use discount
code studentKey17) . We want to address not only academics, but also
practitioners and students, so please feel free to forward this
invitation (https://dezwijger.nl/programma/play-anything).
Monday 16th is “industry day” (a special 1-day pass is available), and
will culminate in an exhibition, named ‘Dutch Courage’, showcasing games
& playable artifacts from the Netherlands. The refreshments & social
mixer at the opening of the exhibition is free for conference attendees,
and special tickets are available for those who want to attend only it
(http://chiplay.acm.org/2017/registration/).
We also have courses on Sunday 15th, including prof. Sebastian
Deterding’s “How to Do Gameful Design”. Deterding is among the top
scholars in gamification, and his course addresses practitioners,
graduate students, and researchers. Information for registering at
https://gamefuldesign.wordpress.com/.
CHI PLAY brings research and industry closer, so that the game research,
design and development community can benefit. As a result, this year CHI
PLAY is trying something fresh, a new track, called ‘Spotlight Papers’,
which will highlight significant work from both industry and
research — from innovative implementations to thought-provoking case
studies.
And we have much more that doesn’t really fit into this email. Do visit
http://chiplay.acm.org for more information.
I am really looking forward seeing you in Amsterdam next month!
