*Call to Host: MeCCSA conferences 2020 and 2021*

The Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA) is 
opening a call for proposals for the hosting and organisation of the 
annual conference for 2020 and 2021.

Following the highly successful MeCCSA conference 2017 held at Leeds, 
the next annual MeCCSA conference will be hosted in January 2018 by 
London South Bank University. Stirling will host in 2019.

Our annual conference is a valuable opportunity for colleagues to share 
current research and practice and to debate relevant policy and 
pedagogic issues. Our conference is also a vibrant event at which 
colleagues have an opportunity to network and socialise. It provides an 
opportunity for the host institution to organise a major annual 
conference that addresses the interests and creativity of MeCCSA’s 
community and also reflects the identity and expertise of the host 
university. MeCCSA’s Executive Committee remains closely associated in a 
supervisory and advisory capacity with the overall planning and delivery 
of the conference and of course retains overall responsibility for the 
Conference.

The Executive Committee of MeCCSA has developed a general set of 
guidelines for colleagues interested in proposing the organisation of 
such a conference. This call is the initial stage of the process whereby 
interested members are asked to express their interest in hosting future 
conferences. This expression of interest should be framed in a proposal 
sent to Professor Natalie Fenton, Chair of MeCCSA, ((n.fenton /at/ gold.ac.uk) 
<mailto:(n.fenton /at/ gold.ac.uk)>), copied to Professor Agnes Gulyas, Chair 
of MeCCSA Activities Sub-Committee, ((_agnes.gulyas /at/ canterbury.ac.uk) 
<mailto:(agnes.gulyas /at/ canterbury.ac.uk)>_). Any queries prior to 
submission should be sent to Agnes Gulyas.

The proposal should include the general details outlined in the 
guidelines on the MeCCSA website at:

_Deadline for proposals is 8^th December 2017_. All proposals will be 
considered at the MeCCSA Executive Committee meeting after the deadline. 
We are also keen to plan for subsequent conferences and therefore happy 
to consider proposals for subsequent years.
