Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) seeks nominations and
applications for the position of Director to launch its new program in
Executive and Graduate Education. The inaugural Director will create and
implement a program of executive and graduate education to address the
needs of the region’s growing media industries, taking full advantage of
Northwestern’s world-class reputation in media education and NU-Q’s new,
515,000-square-foot, leading-edge media education center.
NU-Q is Northwestern University’s first international campus and is
located in Education City, Doha, which was established in partnership
with Qatar Foundation in 2008. The inaugural Director will be working
with a team of dynamic academic leaders as an innovator and collaborator
who possesses a deep understanding of both the opportunities and
challenges of the rapidly evolving media and technology landscape.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the development of executive
and graduate education programs in media and communication, media
management or media economics, working with faculty and staff to realize
the highest quality academic offerings. The Director will be a full-time
member of the faculty, who will teach both graduate and undergraduate
courses in media management or economics, social aspects of information
technologies or organizational communication. An M.B.A. or master’s
degree with significant experience is required. A Ph.D. or other
terminal degree is preferred. Professional or scholarly interest in the
Middle East and North Africa would be welcomed.
The successful candidate will appreciate a culturally diverse community
of students, faculty and staff comprised of women and men from Qatar and
around the world and join faculty colleagues whose teaching experience
is drawn from many of the world’s top academic institutions. In
addition, the Director will work in collaboration with sister
institutions in Education City that include Carnegie Mellon, Cornell,
Georgetown, Texas A&M and Virginia Commonwealth to expand the depth and
reach of program offerings.
NU-Q faculty-in-residence receive generous support for research and
faculty development as well a highly competitive salary and a package of
benefits and overseas allowances. Rank for these non-tenured positions
is based upon qualifications and experience.
