Call for abstracts: Toys - Tradition, Technology and Innovation –conference 2017, Rauma, Finland


ITRA´s 8th World Conference on toy research under the theme TOYS: TRADITION, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATIONwill be held in Rauma, Finland on August 22-24, 2017. This international conference offers possibilities for interdisciplinary exchange of ideas for researchers who work with various playthings: toys, games and play related issues.

We encourage all participants to submit abstracts that relate to the main theme from different viewpoints. These topics include but are not limited to:

-Digital, technological and virtual toys
-DIY toy-making – contemporary, traditional and designer
-Toy collecting and toy libraries
-Toys and education
-Toys and gender influences
-Toys and health
-Toys and intercultural communication
-Toys in history
-Toys marketing, advertising and the media
-Transgenerational toys

We are waiting for abstracts of completed research, case studies and development projects, incompleted or proposed research or ideas for future research in order to generate discussion and feedback.

Abstracts may only be submitted online (doc, docx or pdf file). In addition to some basic background information, the abstract must include title, method(s), material, results of the research and conclusions. Authors are also asked to provide up to five keywords to describe the abstract content.

An abstract should not be longer than one A4 page in portrait layout.**Tables, charts or other graphics may not be included.Abstracts should be written in English. All accepted abstracts will be published online in PDF-format on the conference website before the conference.
