The International Journal of Film and Media Arts Volume: 1, Number: 1
(2016) http://revistas.ulusofona.pt/index.php/ijfma/issue/current is now
available online.
This issue is dedicated to animated documentary, a theme of present-day
relevance that gained more visibility after the release of feature films
such as "Waltz with Bashir" (2008) by Ari Folman and "Persepolis" (2007)
by Marjane Satrapi and publications by Judith Kriger (Animated Realism,
Focal Press, 2012) and Annabelle Honess Roe (Animated Documentary,
Palgrave, 2013). With papers by national and international authorities
on the subject and case studies on animated documentary as a pedagogical
tool for film schools, IJFMA vol 1, no 1 constitutes a milestone on the
reflection on animated documentary as a crucial practice of contemporary
cinema.
This issue also includes a Dossier on Agnès Varda, with the addresses
given at the ceremony of the honoris causa doctorate degree recently
awarded to Agnès Varda by Universidade Lusófona do Porto.
