Officer, Global Kids Online

Full-time for eleven months, to begin as soon as possible: £33,450 to
£36,520 per annum

The Department of Media and Communication at the London School of
Economics and Political Science is seeking to appoint a full time
postdoctoral research offer to work on a timely and original research
project on children’s rights in a global digital age.

Applications are invited from outstanding and dynamic candidates with a
PhD in the fields of media and communications, social research methods,
education, childhood studies or allied social sciences. The appointee
will play a key role in developing a research framework and
methodological toolkit to guide the conduct of cross-national pilot
studies into the opportunities and barriers faced by children as they go online with increasing frequency around the world. The project is
directed by Professor Sonia Livingstone and funded by UNICEF as part of
a global effort to generate high quality evidence to underpin policy and practice to promote children’s rights to protection, provision and
participation in the digital age.

Candidates should have advanced expertise in research methods,
preferably quantitative or multi-method and a developing record of
excellent quality publications in refereed journals. You should also
demonstrate an ability to write for and communicate with a range of
audiences, and experience of research management, administration and
dissemination, preferably including web content management.
