*xCoAx 2015 – Third International Conference on Computation,
Communication, Aesthetics and X*

*25, 26th June at CCA Glasgow, hosted by the University of the West of
Scotland*

Computational tools and media, like computers, programs, wearables,
sensors, haptic interfaces and many more, have dramatically transformed
the landscape of arts, design, and several other cultural forms.

xCoAx is an exploration of this environment in the form of a
multi-disciplinary enquiry on aesthetics, computation, communication and
the elusive x factor that connects them all.

xCoAx is meant as a hub for the exchange of ideas and the discovery of
interdisciplinary and international synergies, with the participation of
a diverse confluence of computer scientists, media practitioners and
theoreticians working on the frontiers of digital arts and culture.

xCoAx focuses on critical and stimulating intersections: between the
computable and the uncomputable, the communicable and the
incommunicable, the chaos of creativity and the rules of algorithms, the
human and the machine, in a constant search for new directions in
aesthetics.

The trail-blazing first edition of xCoAx took place in Bergamo, Italy in
2013 and was followed by an edition in Porto, Portugal in 2014. The 2015
edition is supported by the Creative Futures Institute, School of Media,
Culture and Society and the School of Engineering and Computing, UWS.

The conference is a 2-day event and will include paper/ research
presentations, performances, an exhibition and an algorave.
