The Department of Media Studies (http://www.mediastudies.virginia.edu)
at the University of Virginia seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant
Professor, appointment beginning August 25, 2015. The successful
candidate must have a PhD (or be ABD with expected completion of June
2015), evidence of innovative and effective teaching, and excellent
research promise in the field of media studies. We are searching for a
scholar who specializes in social media and mobile technologies. We
particularly welcome candidates with a focus on one or more of the
following: infrastructures, mobilities, and non-North American
perspectives. Candidates should be well versed in theories of
technology, globalization, and new media so as to complement current
departmental strengths in global media, technology, and policy.
