Tue Jul 30 05:43:01 GMT 2013

Subject: New Book: Jóvenes y Ficción Televisiva. Construcción de Identidad y Transmedialidad

We are pleased to announce the publication of Jóvenes y ficción televisiva. Construcción de identidad y transmedialidad (Young people and television fiction. Identity construction and transmediality), by UOCpress.

The book presents the results of a research project on the construction of youth identity through television fiction. The study conducted by The Observatory of Spanish Television Fiction and New Technologies (OFENT: http://ofent.org) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and directed by Professor Charo Lacalle.

Combining quantitative and qualitative analysis, the study implements an innovative methodology optimized to work with large samples. The research is focused on Spanish television fiction premiered on Spanish TV networks for a period of two years. The book analyses the character construct while also focusing on the audiovisual narrative. This body of work also tackles a complex interrelationship between Web 2.0 and TV fiction. A focus is paid to the transmedia resources offered on the Internet as well as the discourses of Internet users about TV shows.
