[ecrea] Mayday Manifesto 1968 reissue and event

Today, Soundings are reissuing the Mayday Manifesto of 1968, originally 
edited by Stuart Hall, Edward Thompson and Raymond Williams. The 
Manifesto was a major public intervention by the New Left. It was 
released with 70 signatories and sold over 10,000 copies. Our aim in 
republishing the text is to offer this both as a historical document of 
intrinsic interest and to remind readers that the intellectual work of 
presenting the possibility of a more democratic, equal and just society 
has a long tradition in this country.

The Manifesto has a new introduction by Michael Rustin (UEL) and he will 
be discussing it with Madeleine Davis (QMUL) in a seminar on Thursday 
23rd May 6-8pm at the Marx Memorial Library.
